Richa Gangopadhyay is an Indian film actress and model, born on 20 March, 1986 in New Delhi, India. She mainly appears in Telugu language films and has also acted in a few Tamil and Bengali language films. She is well known for her role in the Tamil film “Mayakkam Enna” (2011), “Osthi” (2011) and the Telegu film “Mirapakai” (2011).

Richa Gangopadhyay grew up in Pennsylvania and Michigan. She did her schooling at Okemos High School. During her school days, she was featured in the local media as a junior to found a youth tutoring program for children in Lansing, where she worked for four years. She attended Michigan State University, where she majored in Dietetics and Health Administration.
Richa Gangopadhyay started participating in several beauty contests during 2005 and 2006. She was able to make it to the top ten in the Miss India. USA contest and won the Miss Congeniality award. She won the Miss Michigan award and in August 2007 was crowned with the Miss India, USA in December, 2007 at the 26th Annual pageant, which was held at Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey. In this competition, Richa also won the title of Miss Photogenic. She represented the USA in the 17th Annual Miss India Worldwide Pageant contest, which was held in Johannesburg.
Subsequently, Richa pursued graduate with a diploma in acting in Anupam Kher’s acting school and completed her portfolio. Then she got several offers to work in fashion shows and modeling. After working in several commercials, she made her debut in film with the Telegu film “Leader” directed by Shekhar Kammula and produced by AVM productions in 2010. Richa made her Tamil film debut with “Mayakkam Enna” in 2011. This was a drama film based on marriage featuring actor Dhanush and directed by Selvaraghavan. The film was a blockbuster hit at the box office and she received positive reviews and appreciations from audiences and critics for her performance in this film. Then she appeared in another Tamil film “Osthi” directed by Dharani alongside Silambarasan in the same year. The film was the Tamil remake of the Hindi film “Dabangg” and Richa received critical acclaim for her role Neduvaali in this film.
Richa also made her first appearance in a Bengali film “Bikram Singha: The Lion Is Back” in 2012 alongside Prosenjit Chattarjee, which was the remake of Telegu film “Vikramarkudu”.
In 2013, Richa Gangopadhyay announced that, she will leave the film industry for pursuing an MBA degree from Washington University, USA.

Richa Gangopadhyay was born as Antara Gangopadhyay in New Delhi. Her father Utpal Gangopadhyay is the Vice President of Netshape Technologies and her mother Paula Gangopadhyay works at The Henry Ford Museum in Detroit, Michigan as a director of Education and she has been nominated as a member of the prestigious National Museum and Library Services Board by President Barack Obama in 2012. In 1989, Richa’s parents settled in the USA, after spending their first year in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.
