Dulquer Salmaan is an Indian film actor and singer, born on 28 July, 1986 Kochi, Kerala, India. He mainly appears in Malayalam films. He is well known for his role in the film “Charlie” (2016), “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum” (2014) and “Njan” (2014). Dulquer Salmaan is the son of famous actor Mammootty.

Early Life:

Dulquer Salman studied at Toc-H Public School in Kerala and Shishya School in Chennai. He completed his graduation in Business Administration from Purdue University in U.S. He is involved in several social works and has appeared in a short film as a part of the Kerala motor vehicle.


Dulquer Salmaan entered into the Malayalam film industry through his friend Srinath Rajendran’s debut venture “Second Show” in 2012, where he played the role of a gangster Harilal Lalu, which was well appreciated by the critics and the audience. In the same year, he appeared in “Ustad Hotel” directed by Anwar Rasheed, which was later dubbed into Telegu as “Jathaga”. The film was a major commercial hit and received critical acclaim. Salmaan won the Best Male Debut award at the Filmfare Award and he got nominated for the Best Actor award. Then he acted in a crime thriller film “Theevram”, directed by Roopesh Peethambaran, where he played the role of a killer Harsha Vardhan. The film was dubbed into Tamil as “Aaththiram”.

In 2013, Salmaan appeared in Martin Prakkat’s “ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi”, where he made his debut as a playback singer in the song Johnny Mone Johnny. He made his Tamil film debut with “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum” and he also acted on its Malayalam version “Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram” directed by Balaji Mohan. 

Dulquer Salmaan acted in the most challenging role of his career in 2014 with Renjith’s film “Njaan”. The film was based on T. P. Rajeevan’s novel K.T.N Kottur Ezhuthum Jeevithavum and the film received positive reviews from the critics, but it was a failure at the box-office. He got his second nomination for the Best Actor award at the Filmfare Award. In 2015, he has appeared in Jenuse Mohamed’s “100 Days of Love” which was dubbed into Telegu under the same title.

Salmaan also acted in the bilingual film “O Kadhal Kanmani” directed by Mani Ratnam alongside Nithya Menon, which received positive reviews and went on to become a commercial success at the box-office.

Recently, Dulquer Salmaan has acted in “Oru Bhayankara Kamukan”, “Oru Bhayankara Kamukan”, “CIA: Comrade in America” and “Solo” in the year 2017.
