Bhoomika Chawla is an Indian film actress and model, born on 21 August, 1978 in New Delhi, India. She has appeared in over thirty films in various Indian film industries. She is best known for her role in “Kushi” (2001), “Tere Naam” (2003), “Gandhi, My Father” (2007) and “Sathyabhama” (2007).

Early Life:

Bhoomika Chawla was born in a Punjabi family in New Delhi, India. She brought up and did her schooling in New Delhi. She shifted to Mumbai in 1997 and began her career with commercial ads and Hindi music videos. Then she appeared in the series “Hip Hip Hurray” in Zee TV.


Bhoomika Chawla started her film career in the Telugu film industry, by featuring in the film “Yuvakudu” in 2000 along with actor Sumanth. Then she acted in the film “Kushi” in 2001, where she appeared opposite Pawan Kalyan. The film was successful at the box office and Bhoomika won the Best Actress award at the Filmfare Award – Telugu. Following this film, she appeared in several Telegu films, including “Okkadu” opposite Mahesh Babu and “Simhadri” opposite Jr. NTR in 2003. Subsequently, Bhoomika made her debut in the Tamil film industry with the film “Badri” alongside actor Vijay in 2001, which was followed by her second Tamil film “Roja Kootam” in 2002.

In 2003, Bhoomika Chawla made her debut in the Bollywood film with “Tere Naam” alongside Superstar Salman Khan. The film was a blockbuster hit and year’s highest grosser. Her performance in this film was critically acclaimed and she won many positive reviews as well as several nominations for Best Debut at several award programs. She got nominated for her first Filmfare Best Actress Award and won the Best Debut award at the Zee Cine Awards for her role Nirjara in this film.

After her success in first Hindi film, she got several offers in Hindi films, including “Run” opposite Abhishek Bachchan, a remake of the Tamil film Run, “Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa” opposite Salman Khan, “Silsilay” and “Dil Jo Bhi Kahey…” alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Then she moved to Telugu film “Naa Autograph”, which was a remake of the Tamil film “Autograph” in 2004 and “Jai Chiranjeeva” along with Chiranjeevi and Sameera Reddy.

In 2006, Bhoomika acted in the Tamil film “Sillunu Oru Kaadhal” with Surya and Jyothika, which became huge hit worldwide. At the same time, she was playing a vital role in the Hindi film “Family – Ties of Blood”, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. She also starred in the Telugu film “Mayabazar” in 2006. Following this film, she appeared in the Hindi film “Gandhi, My Father” and acted in the title role in the Telugu film “Sathyabhama”. Bhoomika also appeared in the Bhojpuri film “Gangotri”, a sequel of the Bhojpuri film “Ganga”, where she acted alongside Amitabh Bachchan. In 2008, she made her debut in the Punjabi film industry with “Yaariyan”, alongside Gurdas Maan.
