Zuhal Olcay is a famous Turkish film actress and singer, born on 10 August, 1957 in Uskudar, Istanbul, Turkey. She is well known for her role in the film “In Nowhere Land” (2002), “Salkim Hanimin Taneleri” (1999), “Yeditepe Istanbul” (2001) and “Abscheid Vom Falschen Paradise” (1989).

Education and Career:

Zuhal Olcay completed her primary education from the Halil Rustu Primary School and then she enrolled in Uskudar Girls High School. She completed her graduation from the Theater Department at the Ankara State Conservatory in 1976 and then she has studied for a year in London.

Zuhal worked at the Istanbul State Theatre for several years and subsequently, performed in many theatre plays, including “Othello”,  “I Promise”, “Empty Cradle” and “The Seagull”. In 1986, she received Avni Dilligil Theatre Special Award for her portrayal in the play “The Seagull”. She has appeared in many television and film productions since 1983, including “Parmak Damgasi” (1985), “Sahte Cennete Veda” (1988),  “Gecenin Oteki Yuzu” (1987), “Dunden Sonra Yarindan Once” (1987), “Atesten Gunler” (1987), “Amansız Yol” (1985),  “Medcezir Manzaralari” (1989), “Gizli Yuz” (1990), “80. Adim” (1996) and “Istanbul Kanatlarimin Altinda” (1996). She received her first award in film for her portrayal in the film “Ihtiras Firtinasi” in 1984. She won the Best Leading Actress for her portrayal in the film “Amansiz Yol” in the following year and the Berlin Golden Band Award for her role Elif in the film “Farewell to False Paradise” in 1989. She achieved the Best Leading Actress in a Comedy Play award and the Best Actress award in the Afife Theatre Award for her role in “Steven Berkoff’s Kvetch” and Philippe Blasband’s “Nathalie”.

Zuhal Olcay appeared in various plays between 1990 to 1998, including “Betrayal” (1990), “Balcony” (1998), “Blood Brothers” (1991) and “Hysteria” (1996). In 1999, she founded her own theatre company Oyun Atolyesi.

Besides her acting careers in theatre and film, Zuhal Olcay began singing professionally while she was acting in “Evita”, which is world’s one of the most famous musicals. Later, she appeared in Nisan Akman’s film “Dunden Sonra Yarından Once” and also sang the song of the film.
