Sama El Masry is an Egyptian actress, belly dancer and television personality, born on the 8 January, 1970. She started her career as a singer. She is popular for her amazing performances in belly dance.

Education and Career:
Sama El Masry completed her graduation from the Faculty of Arts. She started her acting career through working in the Mehwar TV Channel after her graduation. She has appeared in three films since 2008.
She appeared in the film “Ala Wahda We Nos”, which was written by Sama El Masry and also featuring by her in the lead role in 2011. For criticism of the sexual exploitation of female media workers, the film was condemned by various segments of the Egyptian society.
The film, titled “Al Azhar” called on spectators to boycott the film, due to its allegedly obscene content. The journalists’ union acclaimed that, the film was degrading the profession and an action was taken by Sayed Khatab, who was the head of the Censorship Board of Artistic Works on the call of the journalists’ union and a revised edition was released on 14 March, 2012.
Sama started to make satirical YouTube videos in 2013. In criticism of the FJC government, Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist factions for her fourth video, which featuring her wearing a headscarf and also a niqab, she received death threats and it was said that, “she was as a hooker, making fun of hijab”.
Sama El Masry also received international notoriety when her video criticized the policy of Barack Obama towards Egypt and declaring support for the stance of Abdel Fattah El Sisi went viral on the Internet in early August 2013.
She was detained pending an investigation into an unlicensed television channel allegedly owned by her in April 2014.
