Nelly is an Egyptian actress, singer, comedian, dancer, television personality, and entertainer. She was born on 3 January, 1949 in Cairo, Egypt as Nelly Artin Kalfayan. She is well known for her acting in “Nora” (1967), “The Ghoul” (1983) and “Medinet al-Samt” (1973).

Nelly began her acting career as a child artist by following the footsteps of her elder sister Feyrouz, who was also a famous child artist before her. As her father was a director; she appeared in a dozen of films as a child artist and also took part in the radio series and in theater plays.
Nelly became famous with her first film “Al Murahiqa as Saghira” in 1966, where she played the leading role. She appeared in the secondary role in the film “Al Azab Imra’a”, which was one of her most critically acclaimed roles.
Nelly is best known for her “Fawazir Ramadan”, which is a set of television comedy shows based on music and dance. The shows were broadcast to tens of major Arab television stations throughout the Arab World on a daily basis. Every year “Fawazir” series was held together around a different theme.
Recently, Nelly has retired from making films, comedy shows and music, but she has been visible as a guest personality on TV talk and entertainment programs. She appeared as a judge in “The X Factor”, “XSeer Al Najah” television singing competition show in 2006.
Nelly has acted in more than 60 films. The majority of these films are musicals and drama which are punctuated intermittently with song and dance. Most of them have a comic spirit.

Nelly is of Armenian origin of a family who migrated from Syria. Her father was a film director. She is the younger sister of a well-known child artist Feyrouz and cousin of Lebleba, who is another well-known Egyptian-Armenian film actress who is a little older than she is.
Nelly married the Egyptian film director Husam Al-Dine Mustafa. Later, she married musician Mody Al Imam.
