Laila Elwi is an Egyptian film actress, born on 4 January, 1954 in Cairo, Egypt. She is best known for her works in the film “I Love Cinema” (2004), “Girl’s Love” (2003) and “Destiny” (1997).

Laila Elwi began her career in art and entertainment industry at a very young age. When she is only seven years old, she used to participate in radio and television programs. At first she appeared on stage in a play titled “Taman Sittat” directed by Galal El S.

She has been honored at Egyptian and International movie festivals as well with prestigious awards for most of her roles. She has also been awarded with several jury committees in many local and international festivals. She has received an award for her lifetime achievements along with Egyptian actress Safiya El Emary, South Korean actress Yun Jung-Hee, American actor Richard Gere, and French actress Juliette Binoche in the 34th Cairo International Film Festival.

Laila Elwi’s father is Egyptian and her mother is of Greek ancestry.

Her marriage has always been the subject of rumors. She got married to an Egyptian businessman named Mansour Al Gamal with total secrecy. Later, their relationship was disclosed while Jamal had been in Belgium for his work. Mansour was 64 years old when Laila married him and he was extremely wealthy and it is often rumored that she married Gamal for money. They divorced in 2013 in Dubai.
