Jisshu Sengupta has a glorious past in his career. He has been active in Bangali and Hindi films since 1999.He predominantly appears in these two language films. He is an Indian ex-cricketer, film actor, producer and also a television presenter. Her was born and bought Kolkata. He did his schooling from Julien Day School. Later he earned a economics degree from Heramba Chandra College. He made his debut in mythological television serial, Mahaprabhu where his character and his acting was very much praised by all. This role became his breakthrough in his career.
After his debut he made his debut in silver screen with Priyojon, directed by Dinen Sengupta. In 2002, he essayed the role of Tagore in Sukanta Roy’s ambitious film Chelebela alongside Debashree Roy playing the role of Kadambari Devi. After that he had a number of commercially failure films. in 2003 He had an appearance in a Bangladeshi film Moner Majhe Tumi which was the highest grossing films in Bangladesh in 2003.He appeared in the supporting role in films like Abhimanyu, Kurukshetra, Mahaguru, Sangram, Sajani, Guru, Janmadata, Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai and Premi. In 2008 he appeared in two commercially successful film Love and Bor Asbe Ekhuni. In the same year he appeared in Hindi film s for the first time in Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero. After the successful films he got introduced with Rituporno Ghosh and he was featured in hit and commercially successful films like The Last Lear, Shob Choritro Kalponik (2008), Chitrangada, and Abohoman Where he was awarded and very much acclaimed for her performance in the this films.
He made his comeback in Hindi Films with Anurag Basu’s hit film Barfi. Later he worked in many films.
