Jiiva is an Indian film actor, producer, model and dancer, born on 4 January, 1984 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He predominantly works in Tamil language films. He is the son of film producer R. B. Choudary. Jiiva is well known for his work in “Ko” (2011), “Nanban” (2012), “Neethaane En Ponvasantham” (2012) and “Kattradhu Thamizh” (2007).

Jiiva was born and brought up in Chennai but his native is Rajasthan. He did his schooling from Adarsh School in T. Nagar and later he graduated in Multimedia Graphics. He learned Mansuria Kung Fu under the supervision of R. Shekhar.
Jiiva started his acting career with the Tamil film “Aasai Aasaiyai” in 2003, which was directed by Ravi Mariya. Before this film, he also starred as a child artist in his father R. B. Choudary’s production “Suryavamsam”. He played the role of an autistic teenager Ram in the film “Raam” in 2003, which was directed by Ameer, where he had shown himself as an established actor. The film gave him several positive remarks from the critics and the audience.
In 2006, Jiiva appeared in “Dishyum” directed by Sasi, which was an above average at the box-office. He made his debut in Malayalam language films with Major Ravi’s war film “Keerthi Chakra” in 2006. Next year, he acted in “Kattradhu Thamizh”, where he played the role of a lower middle class post graduate degree holder in Tamil literature, who gradually became a psychopath. He gained much recognition and praise for his performance in this film.
Jiiva got his major breakthrough by M. Rajesh’s comedy film “Siva Manasula Sakthi” in 2009, which did well at the box-office. He then appeared in “Kacheri Arambam” alongside Poonam in 2010 and “Singam Puli” in 2011, which did average business. In 2011, Jiiva appeared in K. V. Anand’s political thriller “Ko” where he played the role of a Journalist. He came to be called as Ezhuchi Thalapathy by his fans, after the success of this film.
In 2012, Jiiva appeared in S. Shankar’s comedy drama “Nanban” which was a Tamil remake of the blockbuster hit Hindi film “3 Idiots” alongside Vijay and Srikanth. The film was a big hit at the box-office and became a blockbuster. He received praise and many opportunities through his performance in this film. In 2014, he acted in cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran’s directorial debut “Yaan”, which was a failure at the box-office. His last release of 2016 was a romantic comedy film “Kavalai Vendam” opposite Kajal Aggarwal, which was directed by Deekay.
Jiiva appeared as a judge in a dance reality show “Jodi Number One season 3” on STAR Vijay alongside Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Sangeetha.
