Jayam Ravi is a South Indian film actor, born on 10 September, 1980 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. He predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. He is best known for his role in the film “Thani Oruvan” (2015), “Santhosh Subhramaniyam” (2008), “M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi” (2004) and “Peraanmai” (2009).

Jayam Ravi studied at Jawahar Vidyalaya in Chennai. He graduated in Visual Communications from the Loyola College in Chennai. He took dance training from the Bharatnatyam dancer Nalini Balakrishnan. When he was only twelve years old, he performed his arrangetram. He also took acting training at the Kishore Namit Kapur Institute in Mumbai. Ravi is also a martial arts expert. After completing his graduation, Ravi decided to enter into the film industry.
Jayam Ravi took all formal training to be an actor and made his first appearance with the Tamil film “Jayam”, which is a remake of the Telugu film Jayam. The film was directed by his brother Mohan Raja and produced by his father Mohan in 2003. Since then his name has called as Jayam Ravi. Then he appeared in the film “M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi” in 2004 alongside Asin Thottumkal, which is a remake of the Telugu film “Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi”. He received positive reviews for his performance in this film.
His next venture was an action film “Daas” in 2005 which was followed by Mazhai, where he featured as a football player. In 2006, he acted in “Idhaya Thirudan” directed by Saran, which was a bomb at the box-office. Following this film, he acted in “Something Something … Unakkum Enakkum” alongside Trisha Krishnan, where he portrayed the role of a happy-go-lucky NRI from London. The film was a remake of the Telugu hit film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, which was a big hit at the box-office.
Ravi’s next venture was “Deepavali” directed by Ezhil and released on 9 February 2007. In 2008, he appeared in three films, including family drama “Santhosh Subhramaniam” directed by his brother Mohan Raja. The film was a blockbuster hit at the box-office.
Later, Jayam Ravi has appeared in several hit films, including action film “Peraanmai” directed by S. P. Jananathan, Prabhy Deva’s romantic musical film “Engeyum Kadhal”, gangster-thriller “Aadhi Bhagavan” and Mohan Raja’s “Thani Oruvan”.
Recently, Ravi has acted in “Vanamagan” which is under post production.
