Ganesh Venkatraman is an Indian film actor and model, born on 20 March, 1980 in Mumbai, India. He mainly appears in Tamil and Telegu language films. He is well known for his role in the film “Abhiyum Naanum” (2008), “Unnaipol Oruvan” (2009) and “Kandahar” (2010).

Early Life:

Although his roots are in Tamil Nadu, Ganesh was born and brought up in Mumbai, India. He completed his graduation from Mumbai University. Ganesh actively participated in several plays and ramp shows, during his college days and played in the college volleyball team as captain. After his graduation, he worked in a reputed IT company for almost two years.

In 2003, Ganesh won the Gladrags Man-hunt Mr. INDIA award. He also participated in the Super Model Contest 2013, which was held in Istanbul and he was amongst the top five finalists. He entered into the showbiz world through modeling with an advertisement of LIC. Then the Ace director Murugadoss selected Ganesh for a big Ad Campaign.


 Ganesh Venkatraman started his acting career with his first appearance in the first 3D serial in Tamil television titled “Antariksh” and “Mayavi”. He entered into the Indian Film Industry in 2006. He made his debut in film with the film “The Angrez” in 2006. The film is an experimental crossover film, which was shot at the Hyderabadi Urdu language, but it couldn’t be successful. Then he made his debut in Tamil with the family drama film “Abhiyum Naanum”, directed by Radha Mohan and produced by Prakash Raj in 2008. In this film he played the role of a Panjabi Joginder Singh and his performance received several critical acclaims from the critics and the audience. The film was also a big hit at the box office.

After his second film, Ganesh received several offers to act in supporting roles in films alongside veteran actors. In 2009, he appeared in the Tamil bilingual film “Unnaipol Oruvan” as the role of a police officer Arif Khan, alongside Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal and Venkatesh.  Then portrayed the role of an army general Sooryanath Sharma in the war film “Kandahar” directed by Major Ravi, alongside veteran actor Mohanlal and Amitabh Bachchan. Later, he appeared “Damarukam” along with another veteran actor, Nagarjuna in 2012, which was his first straight Telugu film.

Ganesh made his first appearance in Bollywood film with “Tum Ho Yaara” in 2014. He worked on three projects in the year 2013; including Roopa Iyer’s Kannada and Tamil bilingual film, “Chandra”, Sundar C’s bilingual film “Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru” and the action film “Ivan Veramathiri”. In 2015, he portrayed a supporting role Shakthi IPS in Mohan Raja’s “Thani Oruvan”, which was a blockbuster hit at the box office.
