Career:

Amitabh bachchan started his career as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen’s National Award winning film Bhuvan Shome. He later made is acting debut in 1969 with Khwaja Ahmad Abbas’s Saat Hindustani. He won the National Film Award for Best Newcomer for his performance in the film. After a year Bachchan appeared with Rajesh Khanna in the film Anand, which garnered him, Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He then went on to appear in a number of films in a year which did not go well. Amitabh bachchan got a break after the release of Zanjeer in 1973 plying the lead role as Inspector Vijay Khanna. The film emerged as a major commercial and critical success. It was the highest grossing film of the year winning him Filmfare Award for Best Actor. It started the new days of Bchchan in the film industry. In the same year he appeared in the movie Namak Haraam along with Rajesh Khanna and Rekha which earned him Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor and was a commercial success too. His first release of 1975 was Deewaar which was his first collaboration with Yash Chopra. It was the highest grossing film of the year earning him a nomination at filmfare award.  In the same year he was appeared in the film Sholay. It was a major commercial success receiving rave reviews from the critics. The film is considered as one of the best Indian film of the year. It won the special distinction award Filmfare Best Film of 50 Years. In 1976, he was featured in Yash Chopra’s romantic drama Kabhie Kabhie.

Her performance in the film was critically acclaimed which was followed by several successful films like Hera Pheri, Adalat, Amar Akbar Anthony, Trishul and others. He won the Filmfare award for best actor for the film Amar Akbar Anthony in 1977. Bachchan won his consecutive Filmfare Award for Best Actor fo his performance in the film Don. The film was a major commercial success being the third highest grossing film of the year. His 80’s hits are included Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), Mr. Natwarlal (1979), Kaala Patthar (1979), Dostana (1980), Lawaaris (1981), Silsila (1981).  On July 1982 he was critically injured at the set of Coolie and it took a year to completely get well. Amitabh won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his first release of 1990 and the following year he won Filmfare Award for Best Actor for the film Hum. His 90’s releases are included Khuda Gawah (1992), Major Saab (1998), Mohabbatein (2000), Aks  and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001),  Kaante (2002). In 2005, Amitabh Bachchan appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black which was a major commercial and critical success. He received accolades and rave reviews for his performance in the film receiving several awards including National Film Award for Best Actor, Filmfare Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. He was applauded for his portrayal of a 12 year old boy with a very rare genetic disorder called progeria. He received National Film Award for Best Actor and Filmfare Award for Best Actor. In addition to acting Amitabh Bachchan made appearances in many Tv programs. He is known for his deep, baritone voice and has been a narrator and playback singer.

Early and personal life:

Amitabh bachchan has been involved in many social works and donated large amount money to clear the debt of farmers. He is the recipient of the fourth, third and second highest civilian awards of India which are Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 respectively. He was honored with Knight of the Legion of Honour, in 2007 the highest civilian honor of France for his contribution in world cinema.
