Agnes Chan is a singer, actress, television personality, essayist, novelist, a doctor of Education and a professor at Japanese universities. She was born on 20 August, 1955 in Hong Kong. She is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Education and Career:

After completing graduation from the International College of Sophia University, Agnes Chan graduated in Social Child Psychology from Toronto University in Canada. She started singing and playing guitar from her school days in Hong Kong. Her career started in 1971, when she got a chance to record a cover of “The Circle Game” by Joni Mitchell with her elder sister (actress Irene Chan), which became a big hit song in Hong Kong and she became popular in Southeast Asia through Chang Cheh’s several films, like “Young People” and “The Generation Gap”.

She made her debut in Japan with “Hinagishi no Hana” in 1972. She studied with Doctor of Philosophy course at the Faculty of Education at Stanford University in the USA in 1989. She appointed as an Ambassador of Japan UNICEF ​​Association in 1998. Since then, she has continued her visit in Sudan, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Iraq, Republic of Moldova, East and West Timor. 

Agnes Chan made her debut as a singer in “Forget Yourself” in 2006. She achieved the “50th Japan Record Awards”, “Special Award”, for her album titled “Singing to the world singing for peace” in 2008 and a peace concert at over 100 locations nationwide. 

Currently, Agnes is active in entertainment activities as well as in the world as an intellectual talent and cultural personality like essayist, ambassador for smile to the Japanese Association of Cancer Society, ambassador of UNICEF Japan, school girls at AICJ Chenzhou school.
