Aditya Roy Kapur Biography
Aditya Roy Kapur was born on 16 November 1985 in Maharashtra, Mumbai, India. He lived in the US for ten years. His father is a pinjabi hindu and mom is an Indian Jewish. His eldest brother Siddharth Roy Kapur is the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures and his second elder brother Kunaal Roy Kapur is also an actor. Film actress Vidya Balan is his sister-in-law. Kapur’s maternal grandparents, Sam and Ruby Aaron were accomplished dance teachers, who acquainted the Sama dance to India. He studied in G. D. Somani Memorial School, in Cuffe Parade, Mumbai, where all his siblings did their schooling. After that he graduated from St. Xavier’s College. He is not a trained actor, and he has taken dance lessons and diction classes to improve his Hindi accent. Aditya Roy Kapur wanted to be a cricketer during his school days, but he quit cricket coaching classes after the sixth standard.
Aditya Roy Kapur started his career as a VJ on music channel Channel V, where he became hit for his comic timing and “unique style of hosting”. kapur made his film debut in 2009 playing a supporting role in Vipul Shah’s musical drama London Dreams where Salman Khan,Asin, Ajay Devgan were in starring. The film did not receive favorable reviews, and was unsuccessful at the box office. Next he appeared in the science fiction, romantic comedy film Action Replay (2010) starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai, from the same director which was both critically and commercially unsuccessful.
His next film of 2010 was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s bittersweet drama Guzaarish, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. The film was commercially failed, but it received some positive reviews from critics. 2013 was the breakthrough year of Aditya Roy Kapur’s career. He got huge popularity in 2013, when he played the male lead role in Mohit Suri’s romantic drama Aashiqui 2 against Shraddha Kapoor. It was a sequel of Mahesh Bhatt’s Aashiqui from 1990. The plot and characters of the two films are unmatched, but these are from the same genre and have shared similar themes. This film was critically acclaimed with a huge commercial success and became the eighth highest-grossing Bollywood film of that year. The film earned him four awards including BIG Star Entertainment Award for Best Actor in a Romantic role. He was next seen in Ayan Mukerji’s romantic comedy drama Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) starred with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Kalki Koechlin. It was the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2013. kapur won the IIFA Award and was nominated for filmfare awards in Best Supporting Actor category for his performance in the movie. Kapur’s first release in 2014 was Habib Faisal’s romantic drama Daawat-e-Ishq (2014) against Parineeti Chopra. He then appeared in Abhishek Kapoor’s romantic drama Fitoor opposite Katrina Kaif, based on Charles Dickens’ novel Great Expectations. Both of the film could not show a commercial success.
