Mohammed Aamir Hussein khan known as Aamir khan born on 14 March 1965 was first introduced as a child artist in his uncle’s hit film Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973). His family had been a part of Indian film industry. Once he became a state tennis champion for Maharashtra. Aamir fell in love with the girl next door and when he turned to 21 He proposed to her and she accepted. But actually there was a big barrier since she was from a Hindu family and he is from a devout Islamic one. So, they escaped, got married and returned to their homes. Aamir’s wife Reena was seen in the song “Papa Kehte Hain”. His performance in Earth (1998) as the Ice-Candy was admired world-wide by the international film critics. Aamir proved his supremacy in all genres of Indian films – comedy, action, drama and romance. He is remarked as a complete Indian actor of the post 1990 generation for his miscellaneous choice of roles and films. He divorced his first wife in December 2001 and married Kiran Rao in December 2005.
Amir Khan again appeared as a child artist after Yaadon Ki Baaraat in the film Madhosh (1974). Amir married secretly and they revealed it to the world after his debut movie as lead character Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). The film was a run away of his success and he achieved instant stardom. The film is now regarded as a classic of Hindi Cinema and the film was successful in turning the tide away from action based violent films to family oriented romantic dramas in Hindi movies. The great examples are MPK (1989), HAHK (1994) and DDLJ (1995). He showed his breakthrough performance in the second film Raakh. This film bagged him the National Film Award of Special Jury. Afterward he signed a few films which were not good at the box office. In the year 1990 the biggest grosser of the year was released in the form of Dil. he did not need to look back after that commercial and critical hit. After 2000 Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005), Rang De Basanti (2006) and Fanaa (2006). In 2001 amir khan set up his own production house named Aamir khan productions and the very first film of it was lagaan.
Amir khan made his television debut in 2012 by the show satyamev jayate. In 2007 he presented himself as a director with the film Taare Zameen Par which brought him huge critical acclaim along with a huge box office success. Many of his films are evaluated as cult classics like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Lagaan, (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), Andaz Apna Apna (1994) and Rang De Basanti (2006). His recently highest grossing films are Ghazini, 3 Idiots, and Pk.
Aamir khan is known to avoid popular film trade magazine awards like Filmfare, Star Screen etc as he doesn’t have faith in their credibility and transparency. Recently he has been awarded the third highest civilian honor Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. Amir was selected one of the “100 most influential people of the world” by the time magazine in 2013.
